Dr. Rood is a Board Certified gastroenterologist and also serves as an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at the University of Cincinnati. He is a graduate of Wright State University Medical School and undertook his gastroenterology training at Tufts University, New England Medical Center, and Boston, Mass. and served on the faculties of Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine.
Dr. Rood has spent his career caring for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, (ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease) and has served as a national trustee of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America. Dr. Rood himself has ulcerative colitis and this was the impetus for his interest in this area of gastroenterology. Dr Rood has 3 children the oldest of which is a senior pediatric resident at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Rood's other interests include adolescent gastroenterology, colon cancer screening and therapeutic endoscopy.
